The Episcopal Ecological Network (EpEN)

The 75th General Convention of the Episcopal Church, USA met in Columbus, OH, from June 13, 2006 to June 21, 2006.  Full details available from the Episcopal Church, USA.

Resolutions of Interest:

The following environmental/ecological resolutions were passed or discussed at the 75th General Convention:

• a Resolution on a Response to Global Warming
• a Resolution On the Kyoto Protocol (not passed)
• a Resolution on Rebuilding the Gulf Coast
• a Resolution on Environmental Stewardship
• a Resolution concerning the ACC Resolution on Global Warming (not passed)
• a Resolution Remembering Hurricanes Katrina and Rita (not passed)

Activities at Convention:

The following environment-related ideas are being considered for adoption at the Convention:

• The General Convention office at the Episcopal Church Center agreed to have a climate neutral convention in Ohio. They agreed to purchase green tags to offset our carbon emissions for the duration of the convention.

The EpEN is a national network of active lay and clergy persons within the Episcopal Church, USA, who share a common concern for the environment and a common belief in the presence of God in all Creation and who work to make these concerns and beliefs known throughout all Provinces and Dioceses within the church.  Members come from around the Episcopal Church USA.  The activities of the EpEN are focused on the areas of Reflection, Education, and Action.
