Northern Bobwhite Quail Habitat Initiative
|
USDA Farm Service Agencys (FSA)
Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) Northern Bobwhite Quail Habitat
Initiative is aimed at creating 250,000 acres of habitat for the
northern bobwhite quail.
The initiative introduces a conservation
practice intended to create 250,000 acres of early successional
grass buffers along agricultural field borders. Because the initiative
is limited to 250,000 acres, enrollment is targeted to specific
geographic areas in 35 states that have the greatest potential
to restore bobwhite quail habitat (basically, Ohio to Colorado
and Canadian Border to the Gulf Coast).
Complete details of this program are
on a USDA
Fact Sheet in PDF Format. More information on the CRP Northern
Bobwhite Quail Habitat Initiative is also available on the Farm
Service Agencys Website.
